• Hi Friends,

I know it’s been a minute since you’ve heard from me but I’ve just been enjoying some intentional time with my family but now I’m back and ready to chit chat consistently again.

Last week my homeschoolers and our family went to a farm in our area and picked some fresh vegetables for the first time and I must say it was such an amazing experience that we will now be putting as a regular part of our schedule.

With homeschooling you always have to find a balance between the bookwork and fun but the one thing I love about our homeschooling journey is that we can learn through experiences as well where we don’t even need a book just an open mind, grateful heart and to see the world through the eyes of our loving Savior Jesus Christ and that is exactly what my homeschoolers and our family did. We turned going to the farm into a learning experience and field trip where my girls got to learn about how food is grown from the ground, how farm vegetables and fruits are healthier than from the store and also to be thankful that the ground in which we were walking on and the food we were able to pick is our Lord almighty providing for us through this beautiful earth he created with us in mind and for that I teach them to be eternally grateful at all times.

Know that when in your homeschooling journey everything doesn’t have to be bookwork, take a walk and discuss about the trees you see or the cars driving by. Head out to a farm and learn about animals or pick vegetables like we did or reach out to your local community fire station or police station and ask if you can come in for a tour field trip lesson for your homeschooler. Homeschooling doesn’t have to be super expensive where you pay tons of money for a field trip simply be creative and find some free ideas and go for them I promise you won’t regret it.

I pray that as we are almost to the end of the first half of the learning year that everyone is having a great year and am learning many things. Always remember to walk in this homeschooling journey with a grateful heart, gentle tone and patience from the Lord you’ve got this momma I believe in you and so does our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

    Many Blessings,

    Dee

  • Hi Friends,.

I pray everyone is having a blessed week I wanted to share with you all today the sensory bin that I made for my girls that is totally diy and cost effective.

All you need to create this sensory bin is a deep container, popcorn seeds or dry beans and wooden letters. Simply put the wooden letters in the bin and then cover them with your popcorn seeds or dry beans.

Once your bin is created you can then play a letter game with your children that will help them learn their letters for example you can tell them to find a letter and tell you which letter it is or you can say find letter D for me please and they’ll have a fun time feeling through the popcorn seeds or dry beans to find the letters.

Doing these activities. don’t only allow your children to learn in a fun way but also covers motor skills and cognitive growth because the bins promote problem-solving, cause and effect, hand eye coordination and even emotional regulation. Which are all good things in which our children need to learn as part of their growth. So I hope you take out some time and be creative in making a sensory bin for your children and sit back, relax and enjoy the fun with them.

    Blessings,

    Dee

  • One thing I am very passionate about is making food from scratch for my family and I want to share that passion with you. Enjoy.

    Things Needed:

5lbs Bag Potatoes ( I used Idaho Russet)

    Butter (measure with love)\

Can of Carnation Evaporated Milk (measure with love)

    Potato Masher

    Potato Peeler

    Whisk

    Directions:

    1. Put cold water in a big pot
    2. Wash potatoes
    3. Begin peeling potatoes once skin is off cut potato in half and immediately put it in the cold water so the potatoes don’t turn black while peeling and cutting the rest of them.
    4. Drain the cold water off when all the potatoes are peeled and cut rinse potatoes with cold water. Clean pot put fresh water in pot and put potatoes back in fresh water.
    5. Put your fire on high to bring potatoes to a boil make sure they are fork or knife tender before turning your stove off.
    6. While potatoes are hot mash them with your potato masher add your butter and milk a little at a time and whisk the potatoes butter and milk together until consistency is smooth.
    7. Once consistency is smooth transfer your potatoes to a storage bowl of your choice and enjoy.

  • Hi Friends,

I am on a journey of beginning to homestead so another thing I added to doing in my homesteading journey is making my own homemade cleaner for our home.

When I tell you this was something fun and exciting to do I can’t even explain the joy of knowing I made something safe to use around my family that I created.

I got the recipes from my mom, she’s from the old fashion time of utilizing what you have versus relying on the stores all the time and for that I’m super grateful to learn the olden times of doing things and then making them apart of my life.

I love that the ways of old won’t stop with me because I am doing them and will be teaching my girls all of these skills as well talk about awesome generational lessons.

I created cleaners for the kitchen, bathrooms, wood floors and painted walls. I will put the ingredients you can use to make all of them at the end of the blog.

Benefits Of Making Your Own Cleaner:

    1. Limits your family exposure to harsh chemicals which can cause respiratory problems, allergies and skin irritation.
    2. Will give you better indoor air quality and can prevent you from having headaches, fatigue and dizziness because you won’t be breathing in harmful chemicals .
    3. Saves money because the items in which you purchase to make the cleaners will last you a while versus having to keep buying store brought cleaner that can add up in cost.
    4. You will know what ingredients you put in the cleaner and it’s benefits versus using store brought cleaner that may have harmful chemicals in it that we know nothing about.

What You Need To Purchase To Make Each Cleaner:

    1. Kitchen Cleaner: Full bottle of water, 4 tablespoons of dawn dish soap, few drops of peppermint oil or essential oil of your choice.
    2. Bathroom Cleaner: Full bottle of water, white distilled vinegar, few drops of pine oil or essential oil of your choice I found that 10 drops have been efficient.
    3. Wood Floors: Water, pine oil, white distilled vinegar
    4. Painted Wall Cleaner: Full bottle of water and 2 tablespoons dawn soap
    5. Make sure too clean with microfiber towels when using these cleaners and always dry everything with a second microfiber when done cleaning.

    Blessings,

  • Hi Friends,

In todays blog I wanted to share with you all a science experiment that I did with my homeschoolers to help teach them about germs and the importance of washing our hands to keep the germs away so that we don’t get sick.

The girls really enjoyed this experiment, we started out by reading a passage about germs in their science curriculum that talked about the importance of washing our hands to kill germs and then we proceeded to do the experiment to reiterate what we read.

At the elementary age your homeschoolers attention span may not be that long and that is okay because something as simple as this experiment of having them wipe their hands in glitter to pretend that the glitter are germs and then washing their hands to remove the glitter/pretend germs is a fun way and short lesson that they will be able to understand and apply to their daily routines.

Remember when homeschooling littles to take it slow, enjoy the moments and make it fun. In homeschooling we are not only teaching our children, we are making memories with them so make it all count and make sure they are happy memories that are made.

    Blessings,

    Dee

  • As a Christian Homemaker I love to display scripture throughout our home to help me stay grounded with following the ways of Christ and not my flesh so when I found these scripture cards on https://rootedandgrounded.com you could just imagine my excitement.

As Homemakers we are faced with many task in our days from making sure our husbands and children are well cared for, our home is stayed in tack and that we take out time to fill our cups as well so that we can stay well for our families.

Honestly sometimes the task of all of those things can feel overwhelming and from our fleshly perspective will make us very tired and want to give up, but with our spiritual perspective of displaying scripture throughout our home to meditate on throughout the day while we complete our homemaking task such as Psalm 28:7 “The Lord is my strength and shield; my heart trust in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.” and Colossians 3:23-24 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”

Having scriptures displayed such as those can bring us strength and help us build up our spirit man along with praying daily to complete all of the task that come our way in our homemaking journey with joy and not complaint.

I pray me sharing these scriptures cards with you that I am going to display in our kitchen monthly would inspire you to do the same with displaying scripture in your homes as well in whatever rooms you see fit to help you feel strengthened in the Lord with this blessed journey of homemaking.

Know that homemaking is not only a task but it is a calling and a ministry within our homes so we should press to steward it well and with a positive mindset and with Christ we can do just that.

Homemakers may you forever be blessed in all that you do, keep Christ at the center of your hearts, and joy within your eyes as you watch the blessings of the Lord within your family now and for all the years to come.

    Blessings,

    Dee

  • Hi friends,

It’s the beginning of the Autumn/Fall season and in our homeschool I wanted my homeschoolers and I to do something to commemorate the change so we did just that.

These are three simple things that you can do with your homeschoolers to have them appreciate the season change and to make way for studying about Autumn if you so choose to.

We painted with apples, went on a Fall nature scavenger and chose a Fall book from the library for our read aloud time. My homeschoolers are Kindergarten and preschool so these are activities geared toward lower elementary and pre elementary.

For the apple painting all you need are some apples of your choice washable paint and some paint canvases. I brought our canvases right from the dollar tree and ordered a bulk of washable paint over the summer.

As far as the scavenger hunt you can create your own or just google fall scavenger hunt and some free sheets will come up.

For read alouds you can choose a fall book of your choice either from the library, thrift books or a bookstore. We chose to check out our book from the library this time because I love teaching my girls how to check out books and to share with others in the community that would like to read them.

In homeschool know that everything doesn’t have to be curriculum based and that you can be creative and create your own activities along side the curriculum that way you have a diverse variety

of learning going on. Happy Fall/Autumn ya’ll. Feel free to comment what ideas you all come up with to commemorate the fall season.

    Blessings,

    Dee

  • Hi Friends,

I pray everyone is enjoying these first few weeks of Autumn/Fall. It’s just something about a season change that is just so refreshing.

When a new season approaches and we still have breath in our bodies that is the Lords way of giving us another chance to reset and make sure that we are continuing to strive to become more like him and be full of the Holy Spirit Christians and not just lukewarm ones.

During each season I like to decorate our home with items that represent the season and I found these awesome finds at Walmart for this Autumn that I thought would be just fitting for this season and the type of feel that I am going for in our home.

My family and I reside in the countryside so I like to add items in our home that provides a cozy feel that will create a peaceful atmosphere and that is exactly what these pieces do for my family and I.

Out of all the pieces I found the cross is my favorite because everytime I look at it, I am reminded of Christ love for me and of how He is allowing me and all those around me a new season to go higher in Him.

So this Autumn lets not only focus on the materialistic things that bring us joy during the Autumn season but lets look to Jesus Christ and ask Him to reveal our hearts to us that we may make sure that we are in right standing with Him and adjust our spirit man where needed to become a better Christian day by day.

    Have a blessed Autumn Season

    Shalom,

    Dee

    3. I love all things homesteadish from cooking from scratch, cooking from scratch, having an outdoor clothesline, gardening and soon to be chicken mom hopefully.

  • I often get asked why we homeschool so I figured why not share here in a small context of what I’m willing to share…

My children have been home with me from birth up until now at ages 5 and 3 they have never attended daycare or any other type of school.

This is our second year homeschooling as I homeschooled my oldest for pre-k and we absolutely love it.

When my husband and I conceived our children we knew that we would be a non traditional family due to us being Christian, wanting our children to be safe and only be taught things that align with our set apart lives the traditional public school system wasn’t an option because we want our children to grow up in a strong faith centered education as well as a safe environment.

On the other side of us being Christian I just could not fathom our children being away from us for 6 plus hours a day in a strangers care, learning about things that don’t align with our beliefs and also the simple control that brick and mortar schools have over children. I simply wanted our children to be safe, free to use the restroom when they needed to, rest when they needed to and to have a slow paced day as well as the flexibility to travel when we wanted without having to answer to anyone else schedule but our own as well as being able to tailor their education on our own.

So to sum it up the main reasons we homeschool if I wanted to give a short list it would be

    1. Faith
    2. Protection
    3. Flexibility
    4. Chance to explore their own interest and not interest forced on them
    5. Extended family time

What are some reasons you chose to homeschool?

    Blessings,

    Dee
