I often get asked why we homeschool so I figured why not share here in a small context of what I’m willing to share…
My children have been home with me from birth up until now at ages 5 and 3 they have never attended daycare or any other type of school.
This is our second year homeschooling as I homeschooled my oldest for pre-k and we absolutely love it.
When my husband and I conceived our children we knew that we would be a non traditional family due to us being Christian, wanting our children to be safe and only be taught things that align with our set apart lives the traditional public school system wasn’t an option because we want our children to grow up in a strong faith centered education as well as a safe environment.
On the other side of us being Christian I just could not fathom our children being away from us for 6 plus hours a day in a strangers care, learning about things that don’t align with our beliefs and also the simple control that brick and mortar schools have over children. I simply wanted our children to be safe, free to use the restroom when they needed to, rest when they needed to and to have a slow paced day as well as the flexibility to travel when we wanted without having to answer to anyone else schedule but our own as well as being able to tailor their education on our own.
So to sum it up the main reasons we homeschool if I wanted to give a short list it would be
- Faith
- Protection
- Flexibility
- Chance to explore their own interest and not interest forced on them
- Extended family time
What are some reasons you chose to homeschool?
Blessings,
Dee
