In todays blog I wanted to share with you all a science experiment that I did with my homeschoolers to help teach them about germs and the importance of washing our hands to keep the germs away so that we don’t get sick.

The girls really enjoyed this experiment, we started out by reading a passage about germs in their science curriculum that talked about the importance of washing our hands to kill germs and then we proceeded to do the experiment to reiterate what we read.

At the elementary age your homeschoolers attention span may not be that long and that is okay because something as simple as this experiment of having them wipe their hands in glitter to pretend that the glitter are germs and then washing their hands to remove the glitter/pretend germs is a fun way and short lesson that they will be able to understand and apply to their daily routines.

Remember when homeschooling littles to take it slow, enjoy the moments and make it fun. In homeschooling we are not only teaching our children, we are making memories with them so make it all count and make sure they are happy memories that are made.
